Hi, we are Kirsty and Ellila, the mum and daughter duo behind
Supernova Studio.
Supernova Studio is our little corner of the world where creativity, conversation and fun come together.
We are strong believers that the best photographs happen when you stop worrying about having your photograph taken. We will chat. We will laugh. We will try different ideas. We may even sing along to your favourite songs. And somewhere amongst all of that, we will take photographs that capture the true you.
Sometimes Kirsty will be behind the camera, sometimes it'll be Ellila, and sometimes we will tag team.
But there's no "us" and "you."
We're in it together.

A little about us
Kirsty
My love of photography was passed down to me. Some of my earliest memories are of my grandad at family gatherings, camera in hand, taking photo after photo after photo.
I was a proper 90s kid, so my first camera was a disposable one. And I was obsessed. As soon as I’d finished the film, I’d be pestering my mum to get it developed. Then came the best bit, getting that little envelope of prints back and sitting down to shuffle through them, deciding which ones were keepers and which were best popped in the bin.
The technology changed, but my love of taking photos didn’t.
As a teenager, I graduated to a Polaroid, which felt like magic because I could see my photographs almost instantly. It wasn’t until after Ellila was born that I got my first proper camera, and I quickly fell in love with photographing people, places and animals. But more than anything, I loved what photography could do: freeze a tiny piece of time. A moment that would otherwise keep moving could be captured and held exactly as it was.
And I still love that now.
Over the years, I’ve continued to learn and develop my photography, completing my Diploma along the way. It was a chance to take something I had always loved and give myself the time to really explore it, experiment and grow.
I’ve also spent time working in childcare and have a Level 3 Diploma in Counselling Skills. Alongside photography, these experiences have meant spending a lot of time around people and different personalities, and understanding that everyone has their own way of feeling comfortable.
I know that being in front of a camera can feel very different for everyone. Some people love it, some feel a little awkward, and some would rather avoid the camera altogether. So I don’t believe in forcing things or trying to make everyone fit the same mould. I’d much rather take the time to get to know you, let things unfold naturally and capture you as you really are. For me, the loveliest photographs are often the ones where you’re not worrying about the camera or what you’re supposed to do, you’re simply being yourself.
And when it comes to children, my childcare experience definitely comes in handy in the studio. I’m more than happy to embrace the chaos, follow their lead and wait for those special little moments, a little laugh, a curious expression or a moment when they’ve forgotten I’m holding a camera.
Outside of photography, you’ll find me spending time with my family, getting creative, listening to music, planning our next adventure, getting lost in a good book or drinking a cup of tea and eating a big slice of cake!
Ellila
I have always adored photography, I remember being only little and witnessing my family capturing day to day moments with a camera. Now that I am older and I am eternally grateful to have their pictures from years ago, and the authenticity that radiates from each image.
When taking your photo, authenticity is my number one priority, in a world of so many influences and opinions, I want the photoshoot to remind you of who you are to your core, minus all that noise from the outside world.
I have been in the acting industry since I was 10, I have been in a Sky TV feature film, a documentary for itv, and a few other film and commercial projects.
Secretly, the irony is I always feel awkward in front of the camera, so it is always my mission to make you feel as free as possible, to say bye to your self-awareness during your photoshoot, and simply to have the space to let yourself be.
When photographing children, this carefree nature often comes naturally to them, but whenever we have little ones who feel a bit more shy, I will ensure to put them at ease. Prior to photography, I worked as a teaching assistant for children aged 4 up to 8 years old, so I have experience being able to create a fun atmosphere where they can shine.
Alongside Photography, I continue to have an acting agency, I also enjoy singing, travelling, scrapbooking, and reading. I also love playing little cosy video games, my guilty pleasure is that I could spend hours playing sims 4, as long as I have a cup of tea.
